Background
Gaby & Andrew relocated to the UK in 2020 and bought a stunning rural property on the Devon/Somerset border – a derelict mill wheel house adjoining a residential space. They worked with their architect to create a stunning renovated living space in the Old Mill House which was 150 years old with uninsulated solid floor and a high standard of roofing and glazing. The existing space had a radiator distribution system and the renovated space includes a bespoke underfloor solution.
Solution
The challenge for Abode was to create a low carbon heating solution into a building with very different heat requirements – the old with poor insulation on a radiator solution and the renovated area with great standard of insulation and underfloor heating!
Abode Heat completed a room by room heat loss calculation and designed on and off plan a Vaillant Cascade solution using the incredible aroTherm plus solution. Gaby & Andrew had already invested in a new radiator system which was suitable for the solution and included the new underfloor system into the newly renovated part of their home providing a completely efficient, low cost solution. We completed commissioning in August 2021 and have just carried out their first annual service – Gaby & Andrew are delighted with the results, and more importantly have been warm with plenty of hot water and enjoying life in their stunning property.
