Great news for homeowners looking to transition to a more eco-friendly heating system in the UK! This week Prime Minister Rishi Sunak unveiled a series of updates to government policies, including a substantial increase in grant values for air source and ground heat pumps through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Despite being the only UK quality standard for the design and installation of heat pumps, there is a widely held view that MCS certification is only worth getting involved with where there is access to grant funding like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

To help answer the common questions about installing and living with heat pumps, Vaillant has teamed up with Kevin McCloud to introduce the heat pump challenge. Abode Heat are one of three winners of the competition, and a case study of our installation has been filmed.

There seems to be a common misconception that these older hard-to-treat properties are considered to be hard to heat, and unsuitable for low-carbon technologies like heat pumps. However, with careful consideration and accurate system design, heat pumps can provide a viable alternative heating solution for any property.
