A new Green Homes Grant will give over 600,000 self-builders and homeowners in England money to spend on energy-saving measures, including heat pumps.
We will be publishing further information as scheme details are confirmed in mid to late September, ready for the scheme’s launch in early October.
Here are answers to some questions you might have in the meantime:
How much money can I get from the Green Homes Grant Scheme?
Homeowners and self-builders can claim up to £5,000 (up to £10,000 for householder in receipt of certain state benefits) towards the cost of installing an air or ground source heat pump.
Who can install my heat pump?
Suppliers must be both MCS and Trustmark certified. Abode Heat are proud to hold both these accreditations.
How do I get my voucher?
Vouchers can be claimed by homeowners via the official website which is due for launch by end of September 2020.
Please do not “register your interest” via any unofficial online portals. We can send you a link the official application website as soon as this it’s live. We understand it will be late September, as the scheme will go live in early October – further updates will be released as we have them.
I’ve just had my heat pump installed and commissioned. Can I claim £5,000 when the scheme opens?
No, but you won’t miss out, as you will get full a payment from the Renewable Heat Incentive. Anyone who gets a voucher will have the value of the voucher deducted from their RHI claim.
Will I still receive a payment from the RHI if I claim for a voucher?
Yes. Future Domestic RHI tariff payments will be reduced by the amount of any voucher claim. The Domestic RHI Tariff will remain open for new applications until March 2022.
When do I need to claim by and how long is the scheme open?
Vouchers must be redeemed by the installer before 31st Mar 2021, which means your heat pump system must be installed and commissioned by this date.
We have a finite amount of installation resource available to deliver your new heat pump system before the scheme closes. We advise that you act now to get a budgetary quotation ready for when the scheme opens and book your install date – there are a limited number of accredited installation engineers who will be able to carry out this work for you to benefit from the scheme.
